Trunk or Treat at Bayside Church – Folsom
Date: October 31, 2011
Location: Folsom Middle School
Every year, Bayside Church hosts an elaborate Halloween celebration with fun for the whole family. This year Bayside Church expanded its 13th annual “Trunk or Treat” event to include its brand new Folsom location at Folsom Middle School. The idea that started out as a safe and fun alternative to “trick or treating” is now a local tradition that encourages the community to get involved. Elaborately decorated cars, carnival rides and games, inflatable bounce houses, live music, face painting, food vendors and of course candy and other treats were featured on site. The day’s festivities served about 3,500 people.
In addition to the entertainment and treats, the event was also able to help the area’s less fortunate by asking people to donate canned food items to benefit the Twin Lakes and Placer County food banks. This year’s event raised 1267 lbs of food. Karla Roy, administrative assistant for the Folsom campus and the event’s coordinator, said that the addition of the Folsom location was well received in the community. “We had a number of people telling us how great it was that a church would do all this for the community and all for free!” Roy also mentioned that Senior Pastor Ray Johnston and his wife Carol attended the event and that they are very excited for Bayside Church to be part of the Folsom community. Bayside Folsom meets at Folsom Middle School Sundays at 10am.
