Oak Meadow PTA Winter Gala – El Dorado Hills, CA
Date: December 3, 2011
Location:
The 2nd annual Oak Meadow Elementary School PTA Winter Gala on December 3rd was a great success raising approximately $17,000. The event was held at the the Mercedes-Benz dealership in El Dorado Hills.
PTA members, parents and staff enjoyed delicious food catered by the Bidwell Street Bistro, auctions, and live music performed by the Rolling Heads. In a follow up interview with ZOOM, School Principal Barbara Narez highlighted the night’s festivities and praised the huge effort of everyone involved. “This event could not be put on without the generosity of all of the volunteers, “ Narez said. Among donated items for the silent and live auctions were classroom art projects made by Oak Meadow students with the help of teachers and parents.
Projects included decorated gift baskets and a mosaic bench. The school’s teachers, staff, and various local businesses donated restaurant gift certificates, vacation packages, and even an iPad. An Oak Meadow teacher, Gale Scarr, won the iPad and decided to donate it to the school’s speech program instead of keeping it for herself.
Teachers also generously donated auction items for the community members to bid on, including a bowling party, a parking spot, and special time to spend with a teacher outside of class. Narez gave special thanks to the event co-chairs, Lisa Wallum and Janine Brown.
All proceeds from the event go directly to the PTA to support improvements in the school’s technology, media center and grounds.
