The mission behind the Fallen Warriors Memorial Organization is to honor and remember former area high school students who gave their lives serving our country. In their memory, veterans and eight participating high schools have established a scholarship fund to recognize their sacrifice and acknowledge the contributions of our veterans. Close to $3000 was raised at this year’s 8th Annual FWMO Car and Motorcycle Show, attracting a crowd of over 800.
The event included a beautiful display of cars and motorcycles, live music and food, poker run, moving dedication ceremonies honoring all veterans, and plaques presented to area high schools of fallen warriors. Adrian Garcia, one of the organization’s founding members and a former Marine, feels very proud to be a part of this and provide scholarships. “It’s an honor for us to be there for them and their families, to serve and remember them now that they’re no longer here,” he said. Granite Bay High School was one of 8 presented with a plaque.
The school’s principal was in attendance along with the parents of the fallen warrior, Corporal Victor Dew, who died in military service overseas. Sponsors included Marine Corps League, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mercedes-Benz of El Dorado Hills, Walk to Remember in memory of Sergeant Bryan Hall, Wounded Veteran Run, Wells Fargo, and American Legion.
