Brad & Laura Ballenger with the Honor Guard, Chief Brad Ballenger with Family members
An American flag that was flown at four El Dorado Hills fire stations was folded and put into a flag box, along with a helmet shield, department patch, and a metal placard containing information about the history of retiring Division Chief Fire Marshall Brad Ballenger’s career. These treasured items were presented to him on November 26th at a flag ceremony hosted by a honor guard and color guard.
More than 50 past, current, and volunteer fire fighters and friends were present. They came to honor, congratulate and appreciate the dedication and loyalty of their division chief. Deputy chiefs, fire chiefs and eight others spoke about Ballenger’s exceptional qualities including his dedication and humility throughout his 25 years as a highly respected public servant. A captain read a poem he had modified to tout the successes of Brad’s commitment to the department. Chief Ballenger expressed that he was deeply touched by the kind words that were spoken and shared how much he has enjoyed both serving and living in the community of El Dorado Hills.
